Looks like the tight is right mantra is working better now that I am managing to avoid silly spots where I am trying to bluff raise when I have missed flops etc. I only played one hand wrong IMO, was against a rookie player who was prone to calling any made card, lost me 1200 chips, but I came back strong.
I did get reraised when raising 72o (our little home game side bet) but other than that I never got out of line and it paid off.
The HU was excellent so at least the HU SNG grind I have done over the last couple of weeks seems to be paying off a bit. I just felt less worried about playing HU than I have before when it seemed to be an AI crap shoot. This time I was happy to slowly take the advantage and finished off fairly quickly without incident.
I must say I had cards this week which always helps, nothing spectacular, but AQ 2 hands in a row and AK when a short stack shoved was a nice result.
My favourite hand was holding 96s in the Big Blind and limpers let me see a flop which left me a flush and a straight draw, thinking about it led me to call small bets twice, when I had odds to call, hitting the straight on the river. I was a little cheeky and checked hoping to get some more chips in the middle, but alas both players checked behind.
Happy with the evenings result, but always good to get out and play with mates once a week.
